Rush: Good evening, Matt!
Rush: How are you tonight?
Matt1: Hello Rush….Odd getting in thr room
Rush: Yas?
Rush: YES?
Rush: Difficult?
Matt1: Let me in, but no box to chat in…..Had to reload
Rush: HM!
Rush: Vwery odd!
Matt1: How are you making out there in CA? Was watching the news
Rush: Wow…I am already “typoing”!
Rush: Crazy here!
hounder has joined this room
Rush: All I can say is: “Iowa in June”
Matt1: 85% of State in lockdown?
Rush: Hello, Hounder!
Rush: WELCOME!
Matt1: Hello Hounder!
Rush: I hope that things are well for you and your mother.
hounder: hi mat and rush
Rush: Not San Diego…YET.
hounder: we’re holding our own.
Rush: Pretty soon people will rebel.
Matt1: Plans stoll a GO for your trip?
Rush: Oh YES!
Matt1: Good
Matt1: FYI, I’m out next week
Rush: This thing has not brought about ANY fear on my part.
hounder: i’m going to have to break down next week and go for graceries
Rush: I fear only for our notion.
Rush: NATION
Matt1: I agree
hounder: you are taking predautions though right rush?
Rush: This has been grossly exaggerated from the start, and we have destroyed our economy and for what!
hounder: i agree our nation is in trouble. but not only from covid and it’s affects
Matt1: Yep
Rush: Reasonable precautions.
Rush: But, let’s just say, I am not among those who wear a mask when out on a walk or driving their car!
hounder: trouble is I know at least 5 people who have died from it.
Rush: In your family?
Rush: and friends?
hounder: no. friends and people i worked with or their family
Rush: Did they have underlying conditions prior?
Matt1: My wifes Aunt passed away from it early on the pandemic
hounder: not all of them. they were older than 50.
Rush: The flu requires the same care, really.
Rush: I believe that this is a bad flu.
Rush: Everyone I know who got it had only mild symptoms.
Rush: I know of no deaths among everyone I know.
Matt1: We had friends, younger than us who caught it over Thanksgiving….mild, but scary for them.
Rush: I am sorry for those who passed amoung your friends, Hounder and Matt.
hounder: i know more that have had the milder version, but this is not a flu.
Rush: How many died because daocors are afraid to prescribe hydroxicloroquine?
Matt1: It’s out there, but also a 99% survival rate too
Rush: The ones to worry about are the elderly and those with underlying conditions.
Rush: As ALWAYS.
Matt1: 100% agree
Rush: Well. the flue is a killer, too.
hounder: and how many have caught it because people refuse to take basic precautions? I don’t know the answer. but I would rather be cautious and wrong than uncautious and sick and spreading the disease
Rush: Also, I have heard that numbers have been inflated because hospitals receive more money for Covid diagnoses.
Matt1: Can’t go to a funeral, but protesting is Ok….weired virus
hounder: yes. but the flu doesn’t have a lot of long term effects. like kidney shutdown or permanent lung damage.
Rush: Well, I live in the most “precautious” of states, and, if those work, why do he have the same spike as the rest of the nation?
Matt1: We really don’t know long term effects though
hounder: i’ve heard that too rush and from health professionals. but the same health professionals are very concerned.
hounder: i know of at least 1 firend who will be on dialysis long term.
Rush: I know that Covid is something different, but we should not destroy an economy and people’s lives over it, should we?
Matt1: It’s a frustrating time
Rush: so, children are suffering the consequences of this shutdown.
Matt1: I worry about the children
Rush: Think of how much a year is of a young child’s life!
Rush: And what psychological issues will arise due to there not seeing emotion on the faces of prople they see around them?
Matt1: GA failure rate from virtual is amazing
hounder: I’m not sure what the right solution is. should we have done nothing and taken all the deaths as matter of course? also remember, when this started we knew nothing about how it would act.
Rush: Well, how has Sweden fared?
Rush: They didn’t shut down, and they are at wosst no worse off than we are.
hounder: no doubt there are going to be many issues going forward and we’ll have to feel our way through.
Rush: (worst)
hounder: when are we starting the serial tonight?
Rush: There was a terrible flu in 1918. Maany died, probably equivalent to the numbers we see today. if the smaller population is taken into account…
Rush: And they didn’t shut down.
Rush: They couldn’t!
Rush: Also, there was a terrible flu in 1969!
Rush: No shut down, of course.
Matt1: I’m cued
Rush: And…Woodstock even happened during it!
Rush: Yes! I think it’s that time!
hounder: ready here
Rush: Please excuse my rant!
Rush: “Q-ed” and ready!
Matt1: Don’t worry….we’re all feeling it these days
Rush: ready Hounder?
hounder: rants are fine. i don’t know the answer or even if there is one.
hounder: yes
Rush: The answer: PRAYER
Matt1: Holidays don’t help either
Rush: Always the ultimate answer!
hounder: we’re starting at 0 on the link right?
Rush: Yes.
Rush: The serial.
Rush: 15 seconds…
Rush: 10…
hounder: absolutely. God’s got this.
Rush: 5…
Rush: GO!!!

angel & docks: Hounder:

angel & docks: I had my eye on that Imperial. PRECIOUS!!
angel & docks: “Nevertheless”. That Chinese?

Matt1: That will leave a mark
Rush: Yes.
Rush: I think that the scrambled recording might not come out exactly as planned!
angel & docks: Is her brooch there big enough?
Matt1: *cough*
Rush: Here’s where the records get mixed up!
angel & docks: The guards aren’t supposed to hold them. Millie & Madge are supposed to do that, on the Divine Divan. Don’t you know ANYTHING?
Rush: 🙂
angel & docks: When i’m dead, i don’t wanna be carried into the kitchen. Carry me back to old Virginia Slim’s rumpus room.

Rush: YES!
Rush: AH!
Rush: So far so good with out film’s accuracy, then!
Rush: “Ceilito Lindo”
angel & docks: Unfortunately, as we lack our DVD set (it is in NC, & we are in Bosstone—we must step away. Looking forward to see all next week, for ANOTHER night that will live, or at least lounge, in INFAMY!!
Louise: I miss Mexico. Lots of fun trips there.

Rush: LOTS of history there!
Dona: We will miss you Angel & Docks
Rush: Angel…think of next year!
Rush: Get the ones you are missing!
Rush: Next week: “The Sky Dragon”
Rush: It MIGHT be online…
Louise: Painful song
Rush: CC can rest through anything, it seems!
Rush: I think that this was shot in old Tijuana.
Rush: Not this part.
Rush: Palm Springs, perhaps, jere.
Rush: HERE.
Rush: Typos, typos, TYPOS!
Rush: Sorry!
Rush:
Rush: SLOW posting!
Rush: Seems to be working again!
Rush:
Louise: #1 and # 2 or #3 Can’t remember
Louise: No such thing as ancient Aztec Temple of the sun. Just saying…
Rush: Yes to the “painful song” above, Louise!
Rush: Noted, Louise!
hounder: lol@louise
Louise: Archaeology hard work? So my husband claims…
Rush: I think he’s correct, Louise. Not always in obvious ways!
Louise: I like that BB can recognize the crazies
Rush: Yes he does!
Rush: I noted this before, but I see BB as the “everyman” in the Chan movies!
Louise: Yes Rush
Rush: I can identify with him a lot!
Rush: 🙂
hounder: i never thought of it like that rush but i can see it now
Rush: “Batter UP!”
Louise: BB has a nice cynical view of the world
Rush: Yes, Hounder, the more we see him, the more that shows, right?
hounder: true
Rush: A healthy cynical look, yes!
Rush: That could be a great subject for a Chan-relater “paper.”
Rush: (releated)
Godwinshelley2: Sorry – phone call right when we started
Matt1: <tin can>
Rush: Great line there!
Rush: TYSM…Matt…
Rush: Understood, GS!
Rush: I hope it was good news.
Louise: Maybe it was thrown from the ceiling
Godwinshelley2: Just checking on a friend in Virginia – hadn’t heard from him in months
Rush: Doing well, hopefully.
Godwinshelley2: Yes – staying locked down
hounder: guilty conscience always first to speak up
Godwinshelley2: except for occasional work
Rush: I like the “pun” that the writers seemed to use as Robert Livingston plays Professor John Stanley!
Godwinshelley2: Rush when do you need to start your drive
Rush: Midnight on the 20th.
Godwinshelley2: MIDNIGHT – hope the weather holds for you
Rush: We plan to try to go all the way in two days.
Dona: I missed where you are going Rush?
Rush: Iowa.
hounder: drive carefully if you’re starting that late at night
Rush: Going to see and start working on painting the inside of our new home there.
Godwinshelley2: WOW – so exciting
Rush: Plan to be there about 8 days.
Dona: FUN
Rush: Forst day: San Diego to Dalhart, TX.
Godwinshelley2: Nice to see Keye
Rush: Next day…Dalhart to Bettendorf, IA.
Rush: (Gulp!)
Rush: Yes it is, GS!
Dona: How many miles ?
Louise: Better than a gun, I guess
Godwinshelley2: Keye is quick
Rush: First and ONLY time that we see sons One and Two working together.
Rush: There was ONE “exception”, though.
Godwinshelley2: We do have son & daughter in another film
Louise: Darts, blow guns, again…
Rush: In “Charlie Chan’s Greatest case,” Chan’s first two sons do interact and do some amount of work together…not too much!
Godwinshelley2: Why the riding pants? – what’s up with the puffy upper pants
Rush: Yes, Louise!
Rush: And, YES, GS!
Rush: Style, i guess!
Rush: Another question will be in regfard to CC going on this expedition in his suit!
hounder: or room to squat down in
Rush: (regard)
Rush: Tommy!
Godwinshelley2: Lost his tropic clothing during travel?
Rush: Maybe!
Rush: Even BB’s clothing works better!
Rush: (Dolphin)
Rush: “Marijuanna que fumar…”
Louise: Dolphin! always makes me laugh
Rush: It does me too!
Louise: The directing in this movie is so stilted: people lined up often in a scene
Rush: Yes.
Godwinshelley2: Maybe the sets were narrow
Rush: Part of its “charm” I guess!
Rush: And, that is very possibly so, GS!
Godwinshelley2: With all the plantscape and tents – a narrow field to act in
Rush: Monogram “sound gag.”
Louise: Yes, they don’t want to show the rest of the scene
Rush: And it was probably smaller than it looks!
Rush: Here we are again in the Chattsworth area of the San Fernando Valley.
Rush: We will also see evidence of something Dona and I are familiar with: the yearly “santanna winds”
Rush: Like here.
Rush: Production was in late September/early October. The perfect time for these winds!
Rush: The air is very dry during these conditions, and that’s when the fires can happen!
Dona: Yes the Santanna’s are blowing up here Rush.
Dona: Warmed everything up
Rush: Yes!
Dona: are you getting them there yet?
Rush: We have a bit in my area too.
Rush: Yes.
Dona: It’s supposed to get up in the 80’s tomorrow due to the Santanna’s
Rush: It would be fun to look at old weather reports from the time this movie was shot!
Rush: Yes, Dona!
Rush: and…chilly nights due to the dry air.
Louise: The Aztecs were not fools. They would definitely tell you where the treasure was!
Rush: Nice pith helmet.
Rush: Louise: 🙂
Rush: That plane standing by “across the border” would be pretty far away.
Louise: I mean seriously, they would slaugter their enemies, not leave clues for them.
Rush: Good shot!
Louise: slaughter
Rush: Yes.
Godwinshelley2 has left this room
Matt1: <tin can>
Rush: TYSM, Matt…
Rush: That’s two…
Rush: Wig!
Rush: Now…where to hide him?
Godwinshelley2 has joined this room
Godwinshelley2: I think my internet is going down
Rush: The one who threw that knife must have been close to them!
Godwinshelley2: Yes – it was down
Rush: Sorry, GS.
Rush: I knew that your departure was unplanned!
Dona: You are still here GS?
Godwinshelley2: Yes
Louise: lost temple…wishful thinking
Rush: She’s back with us!
Dona: I can’t read tonight. I thought she said it is down. lol
Rush: Matt, did you say you would be gone next week?
Matt1: Yes
Godwinshelley2: I had typed it was going down, just as it went down on my end. But didn’t post it until it came back up!
hounder: so all the temples are knowb louise?
Rush: next week will be my last time I will be here from home.
Godwinshelley2: Looks like the place the Lone Ranger would ride through
Matt1: I’ll be back the 21st?
Rush: So, from among us we will need a sub.
hounder: it does doesn’t it gs
Rush: I will try to drop by via my phone, but GS knows what that’s like!
Louise: well, hounder, new things are found but not temples or pyramids which are too big to be hidden
Godwinshelley2: Yes I do indeed
Rush: They didn’t hide Diego’s body well!
Godwinshelley2: I will be around – though would appreciate anyone else who is around to help out too. This internet thing is a bit troubling for me
Rush: I probably will not be able to stop by on the final Chat of the year, as we will still be on the road.
Rush: That night the movie will be “The Return of Charlie Chan.”
Godwinshelley2: I understand – and it’s the Ross Martin movie
Louise: He’s afraid
Rush: yes. the Ross martin film.
Dona: I plan to be here. But lately I have had people call in sick and I have to stay.
Rush: We can hear very specific birdsin the upcoming scenes….FLAMINGOS!
Godwinshelley2: I would never know that – no flamingo experience
hounder: i wish I could commit but I have to live my schedule according to Mom.
Rush: I have heard them at the zoo in san Diego.
Rush: Understood, hounder!
Godwinshelley2: Have you seen THIS YEAR’s new toy “Gotta Go Flamingo”!! Yes – it poopsl
Godwinshelley2: It’s a real toy
Rush: But, as is probably obvious, I will not be hard to replace!
angel & docks: Just passing quickly—BEAST WITCHES, and see you next week!!!
Rush: Oh, NO! Really, GS?
Godwinshelley2: Yep – for real
Dona: You are not replaceable Rush!
Rush: Grabbed BB!
angel & docks: Dona: Not at current prices.
Rush: TY, Dona!
Dona: lol @a&d
Rush: made my evening!
Rush: 🙂
Rush: hear the flamingos here?
Rush: They “honk.”
angel & docks has left this room
hounder: thunbs up a&d
Dona: Interesting Rush. I don’t think I have ever heard them before.
Rush: Angel’s “shadow” just departed…
Rush: Yes. When I listened some time ago to the sounds at this part of the movie, I thought immediately to what I have heard yh flamingos sound like at the San Diego Zoo.
Rush: “Uncle Fullback.”
Rush: maybe a football player in BB’s family!
Louise: oops, missed Manuel in the background
Rush: So did HE!
Rush: The feathered serpent appeared in the art of all Mesoamerican cultures, including the Aztec. Many meanings were probably attached to the feathered serpent, although it does not mean that serpents were worshipped. The temple on which it appears was named the Temple of Quetzalcoatl when these figures were first found in the early twentieth century. Quetzalcoatl is an Aztec word that means “feathered serpent.” The word is also associated with the planet Venus, the wind, and to a mythological Toltec ruler.
Louise: opening below feathered serpent? how easy…NOT
Rush: (From our site)
Rush:
Louise: I like the swinging door: saves digging
Godwinshelley2: OHHHH color
Louise: nice pic, Rush
Rush: Then, we have an example of polynesian art in the tomb…
Rush: Again…from our site.
Louise: Polynesia, Mesoamerica, what’s the difference!!!
Rush: Something BB says often: “Good gracious, oh me!”
Rush: FIGHT!!!
Godwinshelley2: Shame he didn’t drop it on his own toe
Rush: Here we GO!!!
Godwinshelley2: FIGHT MUSIC
Louise: exciting music
Rush: Double punch to the bread basket!!!
Rush: Airplane spin…
Rush: Brain buster!
Rush: maybe the best fight scene of the series!
Godwinshelley2: Ever notice the armadillos near the beginning of the 1931 Dracula – what’s up with that?
Rush: YES!
Rush: I wondered about that, too!
Godwinshelley2: Like the mixing of cultures – just so it looks weird
Rush: Indeed!
Rush: “Dracula” is a classic, though!
Godwinshelley2: But SLOOOWWWW
Godwinshelley2: They had to reduce the camera movement and hide the microphones
Godwinshelley2: Mexico City!
Rush: Mexico City…
Godwinshelley2: The End
Rush: BB had the last word….
Rush: THE END
Dona: What is next week Rush?
Godwinshelley2: So next week?
Rush: (Applause)
Rush: Next week….
Matt1: <yee-haw>
Rush: “The Sky Dragon”
Dona: (YAY)
Louise: Yay!
Rush: And I WILL still be here for that one!
Rush: Well!
