Beginning in early May of this year, I contacted a couple historic organizations in Warren, Ohio. I have discovered the following:
1-There is a small interest in Earl Derr Biggers, the author and the playwriter in Warren. No mention about Charlie Chan novels.
2-The boyhood home of Earl Derr Biggers was torn down years ago.
3-Warren High School, which Biggers attended, was torn down in the 1950s.
4-The businesses associated with Biggers’ father were torn down decades ago.
5-There is a poster of “Inside the Line,” the 1915 play written by Biggers, on display at the Warren-Trumble County Public Library. And that’s about it.
6-To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t a single building, business, or structure, associated with the Biggers family, still standing in Warren, Ohio, today.
