Rush: So…here we go!
Matt1: Ah….When does school start?
Rush: How was your’s?
Rush: Students begin on Thursday.
Matt1: Another week, but good, thnx
Rush: And the weather has been good, I trust?
Matt1: Ours started last week
Rush: AH!
Matt1: Tropical Storm passed by off the Gulf, so we had (still have) some rain bands
Rush: On Saturday, we went to the annual Mississippi Tug fest.
Matt1: Hmmmm
Matt1: Boat/Tug, I assume?
Rush: A tug-of-war across the river…Iowa vs. Illinois!
DanVenture has joined this room
Matt1: lol, No way!
Matt1: Hello DV!
Rush: I learned it is the ONLY time that river traffic is halted for any amount of time along the entire river!
Matt1: Hate to be on the wrond side of that rope!
DanVenture: LOL, Matt, on timing that comment right when I logged in. “No way!”
Rush: Good evening, DV!
Rush: GREAT to see you!
DanVenture: Nice to be back in the chair for Charlie Chan!
DanVenture: Helping out on swing shift was okay, but…
Rush: 2700 feet of one-inch diameter nylon rope.
Rush: yes, DV!
Rush: Happy you could make it tonight!
DanVenture: Maybe not quite 2700 feet of rope…
Matt1: Storm rolling in, so if I disappear….<poof>
Rush: Understood. Matt~!
Matt1: Also, I’ll be at Disney newt Monday, so I won’t be around
Matt1: How many were pulling rope on each side, Rush?
Rush: Well, we will miss you, but we will also be a bit envious!
Rush: 20 per side.
Rush: Alot of the tugging is actually against the river flow!
Matt1: Sounds like a fun local event/rival
Rush: First time I saw it, and, yes, quite an event!
Rush: Since 1987.
Rush: I’ll take the cue from you with the visual tin can, Matt!
Matt1: Sadly, I think that was yesterday until I realize it’s 2021 :-/
Rush: You lead the way on those!
Rush: Yes, Matt?
Rush: You gained a year!
Rush: 🙂
Matt1: Time flies as we get older

Rush: 24 hours…Chan time…!
mda19083: i need to go back to the beginning of this case and make a map – very confusing
Rush: Yes!
Rush: You might consider reading the original “Keeper of the Keys.”
Rush: Sadly, we lack the first 11 episodes of this lengthy serial!
Rush: I would imagine thatere was a lot of interesting lead-up to the actual murder, as is the case in the book.
Rush: What we have with what we have available of this serial is that it begins for us after the murder of Landini.
Rush: Interesting how the announcer set this scene we now hear.
mda19083: 39 episodes x 15 minutes per episode = a lengthy case
Rush: YES!
Matt1: Sent to his room?!
Rush: To contemplate his future!
Matt1: Been there, done that
Rush: Chan will offer a choice to him.
Rush: Yes, me too, matt!

Hounder: Hi everyone. Sorry to be almost late. Time got away from me tonight
Louise: FOG!
Louise: Fog music…
Rush: Waling in the fog…
Rush: Yes…
Phil & Mrs. Phil: It was a dark and stormy night…
Rush: “Fog” music!
Rush: 🙂
Rich Maine: Always foggy..
Rush: Fog mkes for a good opening…always!
Hounder: For some reason I always see snoopy on his dog house when I see that line phil
Rush: “Fish dinners…our speciality”
DanVenture: I bet filming “San Francisco” with the fog saved some money on sets and locations. Can’t quite tell this is all in the studio…
Rush: Hopes aboard the docked boat…
mda19083: having fish and chips for dinner tonight
Rush: PERFECT, MDA!
Rush: “Mood Food”
Godwinshelley2: White suit makes it easy to see Charlie
Godwinshelley2: or maybe a gray suit
Rush: White, I think.
Rush: and, yes…he stands out in it!
Nothere: Charlie we lost the suspect and the fog.
Rush: Not a great “tailing” suit!
Nothere: At least he’s not wearing one of his kids disguises.
Rush: Yes…maybe a light grey…you are right, judging by CC’s white collar.
Rich Maine: Charlie owns dozens of white suits
Godwinshelley2: Or an Ivory color
Hounder: Notice the policemen both help chatlie onto boat
Rush: As a man of the tropics, he DOES have a lot of those!
mda19083: i need to get a panama hat like charlie
Rush: Yes, Hounder!
Rush: You are right.
Hounder: Or a light tan
Matt1: <tin can>
Phil & Mrs. Phil: Cue the can!
Rush: Possibly, Hounder.
Louise: I go with tan or ivory, not gray
Rush:
mda19083: lots of can action tonight
Rush: Maybe natural linen?
mda19083: follow that car
Rush: 9B2X54
Nothere: So is it the headquarters oif the 12th, or is the 12th the headquarters of the other 11?
Rush: 🙂
Rich Maine: Charlie knows the plate!
Rush: A tiny piece of “incomplete talk” there at the start.
Rush: Uncle Nicodemus.
Matt1: lol
Rush: BB made the blotter!
Louise: in the book
Rich Maine: BB has a past!
Rush: Seems so!
Rush: seems that allimony issues may have resulted in that picture in the book!
Hounder: Bb decides he’d rather investigate murder than be behind bars
Rush: Yes, Hounder!
DanVenture: Good catch, Rush!
Rush: The better of two choices, as he’s getting more and more familiar with murders~
Rush: Not a nice boss!
Nothere: Ah a microphionee. And a phony at the mic.
Rush: 🙂
Rush: Borrowed by…i don’t know…
Nothere: Hey at least investigating murder he can run away. Behind bars not so much.
Rich Maine: I am the government ?
Rush: Boris…I mean….HORACE!
Nothere: Can I be finance minister Rich?
Rush: KNOCK!
Rich Maine: Of course not, make all the side deals you can
Rich Maine: Cue the Swedish lady!
Rush: Yes…
Rush: She’ll be appearing…
Rush:
Hounder: .
Louise: early texting
Rush:
Dona: lol
Rush: Yes, louise!
Rich Maine: Manager!
Nothere: Teletype of evil.
Godwinshelley2: There is a facebook page called “teletype of terror”
Rush: A horror-related site?
Godwinshelley2: yes
Rush: Good title.
Rush: Ben carter…
Louise: Ben Carter
Rush: here we go…!
Nothere: So the villian rents an entire office to send messages, and paid to “fix” the elevator. I don’t know that they are good at financial managment.
Louise: Jimmy’s expression
Rush: one of the big plusses of the Monogram series, IMHO!
Louise: Kidney stones
Godwinshelley2: When you are trying to steal government secrets – your “partners” probably have deep government pocket
Rush: These priceless bits!
Rich Maine: BB at his finest
Rush: “Could not stand solitary confinement…”
Hounder: (Idea) possibly could not stand solitary confinement
Rush: 🙂
Nothere: I still say this is the cheeryiest soap opera ever.
Phil & Mrs. Phil: If I was CC, I’d bring in a couple of federal marshalls just to keep her trap shut.
Rich Maine: As the stomach turns….
Rush: 🙂
mda19083: mrs march got out of bed on the wrong side this morning
Rush: Yes, MDA!
Nothere: QAh this guy. I still wonder is people put on costumes to do radio. I keep seeing it in movies, but I somehow doubt it.
Hounder: Lots of footprints the floor
Rush: Neither side was the correct side for her!
Rich Maine: Yes nt, like on zoom…no pants!
Rush: 🙂
Rush: Tommy and BB look on…
Hounder has left this room
Rich Maine: The labs always l9ok the same!
Rush: Director’s instruction to the lady at the table: “Look busy.”
DanVenture: I love how Top Secret work goes on in plain view with the door open.
Rush: yes, DV!
Rush: I would react the same, i think!
Godwinshelley2: Wish Kenneth Strickfarland would get credits for his equipment loans
Rush: AH!
Rich Maine: The Time Tunnel!
Rush: Have we seen those items in one or two monster films?
Godwinshelley2: I believe so –
DanVenture: Indeed, Rush
Rush: THE hat for tonight!
Godwinshelley2: A lot of them look like the classic Frankenstein equipment
Hounder has joined this room
Rush: I thought so, too.
mda19083: she doesn’t need an umbrella
DanVenture: And I don’t suppose all that voltage and lightning wouldn’t bother the “recording” studio downstairs…
Rush: maybe on loan from Universal!
Godwinshelley2: Kenneth kept them in his garage – neighbors hated when he turned them on – it interferred with their television reception
Rush: I can imagine!!!
Rush: Radio, too!
mda19083: manager
Rich Maine: My private matches!
Louise: You first, you crabby lady
Nothere: I can’t watch Frankenstein. The Frankenstein equipment is on:)
Rush:
Godwinshelley2: At a certain point Universal cut loose alot of their technicians – like Jack Pierce – so they took their stuff to other lots if needed – that’s how the Frankenstein makeup man ended up on “Mr Ed”
Hounder: Hope everyone’s safe from fred
Godwinshelley2: It was a ruthless business deal
Rush: Interesting, GS!
Godwinshelley2: Like the Rural Purge at CBS – just “business”
Nothere: And the plot of How To Make a Monster.
Rush: Yes..
Hounder: Combination drugs are deadly
Godwinshelley2: Yes – probably based alot on that
Rush: Thae fatal cigarette!
mda19083: battle axe is right
Louise: Better for 2 seconds
Nothere: And she’s down. Everyoine to your corners.
Rush: 🙂
Phil & Mrs. Phil: Cue the can!
Matt1: tin can
Rush:
Rich Maine: Smoking cures Louise
Rich Maine: IKEA meatballs
mda19083: mapuchari?
Rush: 🙂
Rush: Psycognosis?
Louise: Britt, Brett, Brott…make up your mind
Rush: 🙂
Rush: What a job!
Rich Maine: Easy work
Rush: Sit at a desk all day and answer maybe one or two calls!
Godwinshelley2: I’ve had Temp jobs like that – answer the phone and transfer calls
Rush: HM!
Rush: Was a Teletype involved, GS?
Godwinshelley2: No – not that job – though it was a bit shady
Nothere: And the rest of the time you listen to the radio. But not this station it sucks.
Rush: 🙂
Nothere: HASS anyone checked the roof?
Dona: he went the other way
Dona: they should have turned around
Godwinshelley2: They kept an open cash drawer on the desk next to me all day – I told the temp company I didn’t want to go back – that cash drawer made me nervous as if ANY thing was missing – their first words would be “…didn’t we have a temp that day?”
Rush: Nice venetian blind shadows in these Monograms!
Rush:
Louise: Get a faster printer
Rush: That WAS faster…in 1945!
Matt1: Going down?
Rush: SCREAM!!!!
Louise: SPLAT!
Matt1: <tin can>
Rush:
Godwinshelley2: So no one in that busy office didn’t hear anything?
mda19083: that’s gotta hurt
Rush: well, the scream did happen in a deep shaft.
Phil & Mrs. Phil: I tried to cue the can but received a message my message hadn’t been sent and to wait 20 seconds.
Rush: She has a body to clean up this time!
Nothere: Hey did you hear the sound of someone falling past us? Were on the 4th floor your nuts.
Rich Maine: How many bodies are down there….no inspection I guess
Rush: More “incomplete talk”!
Rush: yes, Rih!
Rush: RICH
Rush: Tommy joined in!
Rush: The steam room…
Nothere: Look with your eyes dude.
Rush: The SNOW room…
Rich Maine: Then the cold storage
Rush: Yes!
Nothere: Walking in a winter wonderland>?
Dona: charlie found the lights
Hounder: Lol@nt
mda19083: those 2 need constant supervision
Rush: And…a frozen “stiff”…
Rush: From the shaft to the snow chamber.
Godwinshelley2: Again – how do you move a body in such a busy office building
Rush: Good question!
Dona: agreed GS
Rich Maine: Snowman!
Nothere: Packing crate.
Louise: Cooper, Calper, Copper, I give up
Godwinshelley2: Would have been better to take him out the basement – probably less noticed down there
Rush: Another “lost” Chan case…”Six years ago in Singapore…”
Rush: 1939.
Hounder: Assuming basement has an exit
Rush: yes, Hounder!
Louise: Better walk . That is my advice…
Rush: Actually, a long rope could have been tied to the body and it could have been hauled up that way?
Godwinshelley2: But you still have to walk the body down the hall – like Weekend at Bernies
Rush: Poor BB!
Nothere: BB proves to be so lucky he should go to Vegas.
Rush: YES!
Nothere: Wheelchair?
Rush: Possibly, NT!
Rich Maine: Good thing he has quick hands
Godwinshelley2: 2-wheel dolly
Rush: maybe!
Rush: 🙂
Hounder: If body in rigor might be hard to get it shaped to put in a wheelchair
Nothere: Bloodstains? At least three people fell on it from the tenth floor. It’s got a lot more than bloodstains.
Hounder: The dance of the drunk broom
Nothere: Anyway this concludes our brodcast day. Please turn your dial to Not There Radio next week.
Rich Maine: Not a mark on the suit after being in shaft
Hounder: 🙂 not see you next week
Nothere has left this room
Rush: “The Dance of the Spirit”
Louise: A dance on the radio?
Godwinshelley2: Ah – I remember running cameras at television stations
Godwinshelley2: WBAK-TV & AFN-TV
Rush: TV.
Rush: An example of an early TV broadcast!
Godwinshelley2: They said it was an Experimental station
Hounder: Coolgs
Rush: Quick…TELL US!!!
Rich Maine: Yes! What did that mean? Experimental
Godwinshelley2: Why don’t they just SAY IT – no intro or explainations – just say it
Matt1: tin can
Rush:
Rush: Experimental TV broadcast.
Hounder: Listen very quietly as opposed to joisely?
mda19083: they are dropping like flies
Phil & Mrs. Phil: Got blocked again!
Rush: Experimantal TV broadcast.
Hounder: noisily?, let’s light a cigarette with a 6 inch flame
Rush: Cc missed a good opportunity back then when Tommy sait “It slipped my mind.”
Rush: he could have said something like, “Must first have mind to slip.”
Rich Maine: Yes rush!
Dona: It does sound like something he would say
Hounder: He was following sherrif’s advice…. I missed a good opportunity to keep my mouth shut
Rush: 😉
Rush: AH! The old “exploding capsules” trick again!
Godwinshelley2: Though production of television receivers came to a halt during the war, television continued in a number of ways. In the United States, broadcasting continued on a limited basis throughout the war. RCA provided TRK-12 sets for use in hospitals in New York for injured servicemen, and had programs two nights a week. Both W2XBS and W2XAB broadcast civil defense programs. In 1943, Philco advertised that its Philadelphia station, WPTZ, had broadcast the Army-Penn football game.
mda19083: tetragene?
Rush: maybe!
Rush: 🙂
Rush: Gas + nicotine = POISON
Phil & Mrs. Phil: called a binary agent
Dona: Thank you GS That is interesting.
Godwinshelley2: In April of 1942 (when about 5,000 television sets were in operation), production of new televisions, radios and other civilian broadcasting equipment was suspended until August of 1945.
Rush: Note the old TV with a burned-out opicture tube.
Louise: LIGHTS
Phil & Mrs. Phil: BOOM BOOM OUT GOT THE LIGHTS!
Rush: Don’t open any more doors!
Phil & Mrs. Phil: Words from an old Pat Travers song, FYI.
Rush:
Rush: OOPS!
Hounder: Thanks for the fun. Nite all. Stay safe
Louise: Can’t believe they got in
Rush:
Rush: THATS the one.
Rich Maine: Wow rush
Rush: Dropped the accent…
Dona: Nice Rush
Louise: Swedish Janet
Rush: Matt?
Rush:
Matt1: blocked
Rush: Scared himself!
Hounder has left this room
Rush: THE END
Godwinshelley2: Very quick ending
