Charlie Chan’s Adventures in Popular Graphic Media

At the height of his popularity in books, magazines, and film, Charlie Chan also appeared in other media forms, most notably the popular media of comics. Beginning in October 1938, Charlie Chan appeared in Sunday and daily newspaper comic strips that ran until 1942. Later, many of these strips were reformatted for inclusion in comic book publications featuring a number of characters, both humorous and adventurous. In the late-1940s, as the Charlie Chan movies were coming to an end, the detective’s exploits were featured in a series of original comic book adventures stretching into the 1950s. Through the years, Charlie Chan has reappeared within the pages of this popular medium. Presented here for your enjoyment are collections of these graphic media exploits.
