Study: Cast – Harold Huber (CA005)

The following is a letter written in August 2002 by Kay Linaker (Kate Phillips), who had billed roles in four Charlie Chan movies, to Virginia Johnson, a devoted fan of both the actress and of Charlie Chan.  In her short statement, Kay Linaker sheds some very welcome light on actor Harold Huber (1910-1959) who portrayed diverse characters in four Chan films, Charlie Chan on Broadway (1937), Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo (1937), Charlie Chan in City in Darkness (1939), and Charlie Chan in Rio (1941).  Mr. Huber also appeared in what would have been a fifth Charlie Chan picture, Charlie Chan at the Ringside which, when Warner Oland walked off of the set, was changed, with additional scenes added, to Mr. Moto’s Gamble (1938).  (Contributed by Virginia Johnson)
