Typewritten, signed letter on McNaught Syndicate/Charlie Chan stationery (Dated: November 28, 1938)
On October 24, 1938, a daily comic strip featuring famous detective Charlie Chan made its debut in newspapers across the United States. By October 30, the full-color Sunday series began its run. Drawn by noted artist Alfred Andriola, the series lasted for nearly four years, ending on May 31, 1942. The letter below was a reply by the well-known cartoonist to a young fan who was apparently the first to write to the artist, having evidently expressed her interest in his then-new Charlie Chan strip.
